With the end of February drawing close, the never ending winter that was January is slowly relenting. Cold nights prevail but the lengthening of the days and the increase in chatter from squirrels and birds hints at a promise.
We have had some beautiful mornings… perfect for a walk with dogs.
This particular morning the sun had just graced the sky and the trees shone with hoar frost, reminding me just how beautiful winter can be.
Just behind our home is a large open field. The far side of the field is lined by the Cordite Trail… a favourite walking path for myself and the dogs. We walk this path almost every day. It is our zen place.
“What a severe yet master artist old Winter is…. No longer the canvas and the pigments, but the marble and the chisel.” ~John Burroughs, “The Snow-Walkers,” 1866
