Welcome to week 16 of the Pet Photographers Project 52 blog circle. This weeks theme is ” Snack Time”
Odin, our foster dog, has been with us for 6 weeks. He has come a long way from the terrified pup that we first carried into our home. Much of his success can be attributed to his amazing canine foster sibling, Lacie. Another positive is that he is very food motivated and LOVES his “snacks”.
One new snack that I was introduced to since caring for Odin is the bully stick. Oh my goodness, these have been a godsend. Being only 6 months, this pup loves to chew. Bully sticks satisfy this need as well as providing the rest of the house with some much needed quiet time. I have come to love bully sticks as much as Odin.
Now that Odin is comfortable in our home we are starting some simple obedience. He has mastered the perfect “sit” and is working hard on “down”. His favourite incentive snack… cut up wieners. And Lacie is always close by to show him just how all of this should be done.
Bits of weiners have also been our mainstay in getting Odin comfortable walking on a leash outside of our yard. Poor baby, he was so terrified initially… it took copious treats and about 3 weeks for him to even make it to the end of our driveway. Many weiners later, and with Lacie leading the way, this is Odin today…
The big world is way less scary when shared with your very best friend and many, many treats.
“Keep your friends close and your snacks closer.”
